Mini Football 9-12

Welcome to Mini Football!

Mini Football is designed for young players aged 9 to 12, focusing on team dynamics, honing ball skills, and nurturing technical abilities. In this program, players engage in 7v7 (ages 9-10) or 9v9 (ages 11-12) games and typically train once or twice a week.

Who can join? We place players in age-based groups, considering their age as of December 31st of the playing year. For instance, if a child is placed in the Under 11 category, it means they will turn 11 by December 31st.

When and where do we play? Our social teams participate in the Wellington/Western Zone, with games stretching from Miramar in the south to Ngatitoa Domain in the north. Meanwhile, regional teams compete in the Wellington Regional Leagues, covering areas across the Wellington region, including the Hutt Valley and Kapiti Coast.

For Grades 9 & 10, matches consist of two 25-minute games on Saturday mornings, usually played in two halves of 12 minutes each. Each team comprises seven players, including a goalkeeper, with squad sizes capped at 12 players.

Grades 11 & 12 teams engage in one 60-minute game every Saturday, divided into two halves of 30 minutes each. With nine players on each team, including a goalkeeper, squad sizes are also limited to 12 players.

What do you need? Players will receive a North Wellington FC playing shirt for the season, which should be returned at the end of the season. Club shorts and socks can be conveniently purchased online via Inter Football

Regional Teams

We have made changes to the way our regional sides in grades 11 and 12 will operate for the 2024 season.

Here is an outline of the changes to the selection process, and the training/fee structure.

Selection

U11, U12 and U12 GOSL players will have the opportunity to be considered for selection in a regional pool of players corresponding to their age group.

The selection process will identify a training group of 24 players (maximum).

Training

Each Regional Pool will be assigned a “Club Coach” to work alongside their volunteer team coaches and facilitate training sessions with the assistance of the Junior Development Manager.

Volunteer coaches will take their respective teams each weekend.

Each of the regional Pools will train twice per week 1 session on artificial turf and 1 session on grass

Cost

In addition to their $165 season subscription, regional players will be required to pay an additional $80 each Term.

Code of Conduct

To ensure a positive and respectful environment for everyone involved, we uphold the North Wellington Football Club's code of conduct. You can find the full details of our code of conduct Here
