Director of Football Appointment

We are excited to announce the appointment of Tate Macpherson as the new Director of Football at North Wellington Football Club.

Tate brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role, and his leadership will be pivotal in driving the growth and professionalism of our Talent Development Programme (TDP) and the club as a whole.

Tate's impressive career includes coaching and technical director roles with top-tier clubs such as Watford FC, Paris Saint-Germain, and Regents Park FC. As the founder of MACS Academy London, he has successfully developed grassroots players, some of whom progressed to sign for elite academies, including the likes of Chelsea and West Ham. Holding a UEFA B coaching licence, Tate has a strong track record of fostering talent, mentoring coaches, and overseeing advanced development programs, all underpinned by his ability to inspire excellence and create impactful football pathways.

In this role, Tate will have a focus on elevating the professionalism of our TDP and expanding on our talent pool of our players and coaches. He will also provide oversight and support to the men’s and women’s first teams and contribute to the club’s overall vision.

Fraser Kirby, President of North Wellington FC, expressed his excitement about Tate’s arrival, saying, “We are thrilled to have someone of Tate’s calibre join our club. His experience and professionalism will undoubtedly elevate our club to new heights. We are looking forward to seeing the positive impact he will bring across all levels of North Wellington FC.”

Tate, who will be starting in February 2025, had this to say about his appointment. “I am really excited to start the next chapter of my career with this great club. The work that been going on over the last few seasons has laid some great foundations which I’m really looking forward to building upon. I am keen to immerse myself within the club at all levels and work with Fraser and the team to ensure we achieve our goals, both in the immediate and the long-term future.”
